The Systep Team is pleased to present the Monthly Report of the Chilean Electricity Sector (in Spanish).

As a Systep team we do not want to be left out of the social discussion that is currently happening in the country. We believe that the participation of all the social sectors is necessary, through effective dialogue and communication, to reach agreements that allow solving the problems detected. As indicated by our Director in a letter to La Tercera newspaper (http://www.systep.cl/?p=3483), “we have failed to put the consumer at the center of the debate.” Therefore, it is also time that, generously, we seek a real solution.

In this context, and as to what we can contribute from our expertise, we are analyzing the recent proposal to stabilize energy prices for regulatory consumers and we hope to contribute responsibly to the debate, contributing with our opinion.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, during this month we were developing an editorial about the new flexibility mechanisms that would be available in the system in the short term, considering the concern to avoid future increases in consumer electricity bills. In January of the next year, the new auction design begins to apply for certain balance services, which sows some uncertainty about the results of its application.
